1. Roof Rack: The Foundation of Every Sprinter Build

If there's one accessory that changes what a Sprinter van is capable of, it's the roof rack. Solar panels, lighting, and additional cargo capacity all mount to or integrate with what you put on your roof. Getting this decision right first saves time, money, and headaches down the line.

FVC offers three main roof rack lines for Sprinter vans, each designed for a different type of build:

The Sprinter Low Pro Roof Rack ($1,695 - $1,995) is the option with the lowest profile to minimize wind resistance and help you maintain the best fuel economy possible with a rack installed. It's a great platform for solar panels, hauling kayaks or surfboards, and adding decking panels to create your own custom rooftop deck. Available for 144" high roof, 170" high roof, 170" EXT, and 144" low roof configurations.

The Sprinter Standard Roof Rack ($2,095 - $2,595) is our most popular option in the lineup. It’s similar to the Low Pro in terms of what you can do with it but a step up in both look and function. It has a more robust, heavy-duty profile while still being a perfect platform for solar, gear hauling, and decking panels. If you want something that looks as capable as it is, go with the Standard Rack. Available for 144" high roof, 170", and 170" EXT.

The Sprinter Safari Rack ($4,395- $4,995) is the expedition-grade option. It has the overland-ready look to match, and comes with a full rooftop deck that's as functional as it is good-looking. Strap gear down anywhere across the rack, mount accessories, or just get up there after a long day of adventure to catch a sunset. It's a serious gear hauler built for serious builds.

All three racks are designed to run an awning. The Low Pro pairs with the Fiamma F80 via our Fiamma F80 Kit, while the Standard and Safari racks are set up to add the Fiamma F45.

Other add-ons worth noting: Solar Panel Mounting Brackets make integrating panels clean and straightforward. Universal Decking Panels let you add a walkable surface to the Low Pro or Standard racks. High Bar Kits are available for additional clearance when you need it. And for those working remotely or traveling full-time, our Starlink Mini Van Mount secures the Starlink Mini terminal directly to your roof rack. More on this in the Bonus Accessories section.

All FVC Sprinter roof racks are aluminum construction, mount to your van's factory roof rails without drilling, and ship free to the lower 48 states.

2. Side Ladder: Roof Access You'll Actually Use

A roof rack without a way to get up there is only half useful. The side ladder is your access point for loading gear, cleaning solar panels, setting up equipment at camp, and making the most of the rooftop deck you just built. It gets used more than most people expect.

FVC offers multiple side ladder options for Sprinter vans:

The Apex Side Ladder ($995) is our premium side ladder option. A refined design that makes getting up and down easier, especially with gear in hand.

The Side Ladder ($795) is the standard driver-side mount with a clean design that's compatible with our Sprinter roof rack systems.

The Side Ladder | Wheel Wrap ($795) is similar to the classic Side Ladder, but sits further back on the van near the wheel well so you can fully open t-vent or pop-out windows, and have a ladder-free view.

Both the standard Side Ladder and Wheel Wrap are available in both high roof and low roof configurations. The Apex Side Ladder is only designed for high roof vans.

Installation is DIY-friendly and typically takes 1-2 hours, mounting to the pinch seam of the van.

3. Hood Strut Kit: A Small Upgrade Every Sprinter Owner Needs

This one flies under the radar for many, but ask any Sprinter owner who has installed it and they'll tell you it should have been day-one. The stock hood prop on the VS30 Sprinter is clunky, requires two hands to manage, and holds the hood at a low angle that makes accessing the engine bay awkward. For diesel owners who add DEF at every fill-up, this becomes a real frustration quickly.

The Sprinter Hood Strut Kit ($125) replaces the factory prop with a pair of gas struts and high-quality stainless steel no-twist brackets. The hood lifts easily, holds itself open at a higher angle for better engine bay access, and stays out of your way while you work. Installation takes about 15 minutes and all hardware is included. Compatible with 2019+ VS30 Sprinter vans.

At $125, this is one of the highest value-per-dollar upgrades in our entire catalog. It's useful for every Sprinter owner, but especially indispensable if you're running a diesel.

4. Front Bumper: Protection That Pays for Itself

The stock Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bumper wasn't designed with off-road use, overlanding, or serious adventure in mind. One significant rock strike to the intercooler, a deer hit on a mountain road, or a low-speed collision on a forest track can mean thousands of dollars in damage to components sitting right behind that plastic. A quality aftermarket bumper is protection that pays for itself the first time something goes wrong.

We built our bumpers around four key principles: terrain protection, recovery capability, auxiliary lighting provisions, and retaining all OEM functions including sensors and parking cameras. Every bumper is trail and road tested on FVC's own vehicles before release.

The Sprinter Front Bumper ($2,695) is our full-featured option. A modular design with provisions for auxiliary lighting, an optional bull bar, an optional skid plate for underbody protection, and an optional front hitch adapter. Compatible with winch installation.

The Sprinter Core Front Bumper ($2,195) is a newer addition to the lineup offering genuine protection at a lower entry price. It’s also winch-ready with provisions for lighting, and is available with an optional bull bar, skid plate, and front hitch adapter as add-ons, so you can configure the level of protection your setup calls for.

For recovery, we offer both the DV8 Xtract 12k Winch for a more accessible price point and the Warn VR EVO 12-S Winch for those who want the benchmark in recovery gear. The Winch Fairlead rounds out the setup. For lighting, Baja Designs Squadron Sport, LP6 Pro, and S2 SAE light pods all mount directly to bumper provisions. The Sprinter Van Front Bumper Hitch Adapter adds a hitch receiver for towing or a bike rack.

The Sprinter Nudge Bar ($995) is a front-end aesthetic upgrade with provisions for mounting auxiliary lighting. It installs without any cutting required and won't provide terrain protection, but it's a clean way to add lighting mounts and a more purposeful front-end look.

5. Rear Tire Carrier: Make Your Spare More Accessible

The stock spare tire on a Sprinter lives underneath the van, tucked away in a spot that isn't always the easiest to access, especially when you actually need it. And if you've upgraded to bigger tires, a full-size spare doesn't always fit in the factory basket underneath. Moving the spare to an exterior rear-door mount makes it far more accessible and frees up the space underneath the van for other upgrades like water tanks or auxiliary fuel storage.

The Sprinter Rear Tire Carrier ($1,295) is our standalone rear-door tire carrier option. Designed for 2019+ VS30 Sprinters, it mounts to the rear door and accommodates various tire sizes. Price varies by configuration.

The Sprinter Rear Ladder + Tire Carrier ($1,995) is a combo unit that gives you a rear-access ladder and a tire carrier in a single installation. If you're planning to get both, this is the more cost-effective route.

Both options are compatible with the Tire Carrier Rotopax Adapter if you want to mount a Rotopax fuel or water container alongside your spare.

6. Rear Door Platform & Storage Boxes: Turn Dead Space Into a Gear System

The rear doors of a Sprinter van are some of the most underutilized real estate on any build. Our rear door platform system turns them into a complete exterior storage setup, and it's one of the most popular product groups in the entire catalog for good reason.

The concept is simple: mount a platform to your rear door and carry what you don't want inside the van. Bikes, wet wetsuits, emergency fuel, firewood, a trash bag: these can all live outside, keeping your interior clean and organized.

The Sprinter Rear Door Platform ($1,595) is the foundation of the system. A cargo-ready platform that mounts to your rear door with provisions for storage boxes, tie-downs, and additional accessories. Available in driver-side and passenger-side configurations.

From there, choose the storage configuration that fits your setup:

The Rear Storage Box ($1,395) is the flagship enclosed, large storage box option. Sealed, lockable, big enough for meaningful gear loads, and a door that works as a table top. It's the go-to for anyone who needs secure, protected exterior storage.

The Rear Storage Box - Slim ($1,295) offers the same weatherproof, lockable construction in a more compact, lower-profile footprint. Well-suited when vehicle length or door clearance is a consideration.

The Ski & Snowboard Locker ($2,495) offers dedicated, lockable, exterior enclosed storage for skis and snowboards. Keep your gear fully protected, organized, and out of the interior entirely. A must-have for anyone who regularly hits the slopes in their Sprinter.

The Rear Storage Box - Small ($1,095) is the most compact enclosed option and a solid entry point for lockable exterior storage without the full-size footprint. Sized to run alone, or sit on top of the large Storage Box.

The Wet/Dry Gear Box ($595) is a lower-profile open-access gear box for items you need to reach quickly: wet wetsuits, muddy gear, recovery equipment. Sized to run solo or stacked with. Also sized to run on top of the large Storage Box, or by itself.

Additional accessories include storage box shelves, a Rear Platform Gear Cage, a Storage Box Topper, and options for carrying bikes on the rear doors.

7. Side Steps: Get In and Out Safely

Sprinter vans sit considerably higher off the ground than most passenger vehicles, and 4WD and AWD models sit even taller than their RWD counterparts. Adding a proper side step makes daily entry and exit easier and safer for everyone in the van, whether that's multiple trips a day in all conditions or simply making it more manageable for passengers of any size.

The Sprinter Side Steps ($1,645-$1,845) provide easier access while leaving the most clearance possible, and are available for 144" and 170" vans. Durable construction with a clean profile that integrates well with the van's exterior, and a non-slip grip patterned in the step so there’s no peeling or loss of traction over time.

The Winnebago Ekko Sprinter Side Steps ($1,095) are a similar option but designed specifically for the Winnebago Ekko Sprinter platform. These are also compatible with standard Sprinter vans for those who want a more compact footprint and don’t need every inch of clearance.

For rear door access, the Sprinter Rear Step, Rear Tube Step, or Rear Plate Step make it easier to get in and out through the back and mount with a factory hitch in place.

8. Headliner Shelf: Turn Overhead Space Into Useful Storage

The Headliner Shelf takes what is typically wasted overhead space and turns it into convenient, accessible storage. It spans the ceiling of the van and keeps lighter items organized and within reach without taking up any wall or floor space.

The Sprinter Headliner Shelf ($495) installs across the ceiling of your Sprinter and handles all the everyday items you want close at hand: bedding, bags, clothing, pillows, and gear you reach for often. The optional Headliner Shelf Curtain Rod lets you hang a privacy or light-blocking curtain, a practical add-on for anyone sleeping in their van regularly.

9. Bed System: Sleep Well Anywhere

The bed defines your interior layout. Once it's in, everything else gets built around it. Getting this right is the most important interior decision you'll make.

The Sprinter Bed System ($2,250-$2,350) is offered in two configurations. The 3-panel bed sleeps north-south, the 2-panel version sleeps east-west for layouts with window flares. Both have fully removable panels that convert back to full cargo configuration in minutes, with a cut-out pattern in the metal offers dual-purposes, acting as proper ventilation of the bed and can be used for gear storage underneath.

The Sprinter Murphy Bed ($9,995) is for setups where maximizing daytime floor space is the priority. The Murphy folds flat against the wall during the day, opening up the entire van floor. When it's time to sleep, it folds down into a nearly queen-sized bed (with flares). Beyond sleeping, it includes a ton of built-in storage for power systems, water, and more, along with integrated overhead storage and a fold-out tabletop that gives you a large counter space or work surface when you need it.

Pair any FVC bed system with a Sprinter Van Mattress for a complete sleep setup. Each mattress is custom-made by Roam Rest with particular cuts to fit each bed system and the Sprinter van dimensions. The 5" thick mattress with multi-layered foam makes you forget you're sleeping in a van.

The Sprinter Van Bed Brackets and L-Track Kits are compatible mounting hardware components for the Sprinter Bed System, available for both 144" and 170" configurations in silver and black.

10. Step Extension: A More Functional and Finished Interior

The factory step into the Sprinter's sliding door leaves an unfinished gap between the step and the van floor. The Sprinter Van Step Extension ($365) fills and extends that area, adding usable floor space at the door along with a storage compartment underneath, all while giving the interior a much cleaner, more polished interior that looks and feels intentional from the moment you step in. It's the kind of detail that makes a real difference in how the finished van feels, and one of the most consistently well-received products in our interior lineup.

11. Upper Cabinets: Maximize Storage Without Sacrificing Floor Space

Floor space is the most finite resource in any van, and upper storage cabinets are how you get seriously organized without giving any of that up. Mounted overhead along the van walls, our lineup of upper cabinets for Sprinter vans covers a range of sizes and styles to fit almost any configuration.

The Sprinter 48” Upper Cabinets ($895) is the most popular option. A deep, enclosed cabinet with a latching door system that keeps contents secure while driving. A 24" version is available ($695).

The Sprinter 20" and 40” Shallow Upper Cabinets ($645-$795) are similar to the full-depth upper cabinets but have a slimmer profile. The shallow depth makes them perfect for over the bed area, or along a single side to maintain a more open feel in the van.

The Sprinter Under Cabinet Shelf ($119-$145) is an open face shelf that expands upper cabinet storage capacity. It mounts to the base of 24” and 48” Upper Cabinets, or a 40” Shallow Upper Cabinet. Perfect for spice racks, grab-and-go items, or everyday essentials you want within easy reach.

The Sprinter Open Shelf Cabinets ($295-$345) are open-face shelf options in multiple widths for items you want visible and accessible at a glance. Great for books, electronics, or even creating your own charging station.

The Sprinter Angled Shelf ($145-$219) is a versatile shelf that mounts at the end of upper cabinets, making use of the corner space right next to the shelf. Made for easy-to-grab items, decor, and more.

The Sprinter 36" Open Face Upper Cabinet ($495) has a different profile than the rest of the lineup but worth mentioning. It comes with a bungee cable that holds contents in while keeping things easy to grab on the go. It's a great solution when cabinet doors aren't a priority and quick access is.

12. Galley: Cook Anywhere

An adventure van without a proper galley is just a place to sleep with room for gear. Once you add a countertop, some dedicated storage, a fridge, and a prep area, it becomes somewhere you actually want to spend time that can do it all. Our galleys are designed to give you exactly that: a functional kitchen setup with space for a fridge, a countertop that you can install your own sink in, and enough counter space to actually use it.

The Adventure Van 41" Galley ($3,095) is our larger option, with more counter space and storage for setups where the kitchen is a centerpiece of the build. Built with durable finishes that clean easily and hold up to regular use. Available in black, grey, and white.

The Adventure Van 24" Galley ($2,150-$2,395) is the more compact option, well-suited to any layout where a smaller kitchen footprint is preferred. Same materials and finish quality, scaled for tighter spaces.

Both galleys are a universal fit for any van, designed to fit the Engel SR70 Fridge-Freezer or the Isotherm Drawer 65, and come fully built with a 1.5” bamboo countertop that can stay as a full counterspace, or you can DIY it with your own sink.

Accessories That Complete the Build

Once the essentials are covered, these are the upgrades that take a Sprinter setup from functional to dialed.

The Fiamma Awnings ($1,595-$2,095) provide shade and rain protection at camp and deploy quickly from a side-mount position on your roof rack. The Sprinter Low Pro rack works with the F80 when installed with our F80 Awning kit, with the awning sharing mounting to the factory roof rails. The Safari and Standard racks come ready to mount the F45 awning.

The Sprinter Passenger Floor Riser Compartment ($295) raises the floor on the passenger side to a more comfortable height for the passenger seat, since the Sprinter's seats sit a little high for some. It also includes a hidden storage compartment underneath, keeping valuables or frequently needed items out of sight and organized.

The Starlink Mini Van Mount ($45-$105) is a purpose-built bracket that secures the Starlink Mini terminal directly to your roof rack for clean, permanent connectivity. Available in a stainless steel or billet aluminum finish.

The Sprinter Seat Base Molle Panel ($95) turns the seat base into extra storage using a Molle panel. Use it to attach Molle-style pouches such as first-aid kits, tools, or anything you want within easy reach.

The Universal Wheel Well Box ($1,095) converts the unused wheel well cavity into a lockable storage compartment. Available with Molle Panel or Bungee system add-ons. Meaningful organization improvement of the wheel well area, includes the bamboo lid, and usable as a bench.

The Sprinter Dash Mount ($195) accommodates phones, GPS units, tablets, RAM ball mounts, GoPros, and radios. Keeps navigation and devices accessible and secure.

The Slider Door Grab Handle ($195) and Rear Door Grab Handle ($225) are small safety additions that make entry and exit more confident, particularly in wet or slippery conditions.

The Pull-Out Tray ($995) is a slide-out platform for heavy, bulky gear you want accessible without digging through the back of the van. Particularly useful for bikes, tools, or recovery equipment.

The Fold Down Table ($445) mounts to the wall or rear door platform and folds completely flat when not in use. Dining, working, meal prep: it's more useful than it sounds until you're actually living out of a van.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the must-have accessories for a Sprinter van? The essentials are a roof rack, side or rear ladder, bed system, interior storage cabinets, tire carrier, and rear door storage. These form the foundation of a functional Sprinter van setup. Everything else on this list builds from there.

Do Sprinter van accessories fit both the 144" and 170" wheelbases? Most exterior accessories including bumpers, ladders, tire carriers, and side steps are universal across wheelbases. Roof racks and bed systems are wheelbase-specific. We offer dedicated options for 144", 170", and 170" Extended models. Check individual product pages for your specific configuration and compatibility.

What's the difference between the Low Pro and Standard roof rack? The Low Pro has the lowest profile of the two and is designed to minimize wind resistance for optimal fuel economy with a rack installed. The Standard Rack is a step up in look and function with a more robust profile, while still being just as capable for solar, gear hauling, and decking, and includes a front fairing. Both can be fitted with decking panels to build a custom rooftop deck, and both are designed to mount an awning.

Can I install Sprinter van accessories myself? Yes, our products are designed with DIY installation in mind. Roof racks typically take 1-3 hours and mount to factory roof rails without drilling. The Hood Strut Kit installs in about 15 minutes. Ladders and interior components are similarly straightforward. Bumpers and winch setups can be done at home but some may benefit from a professional touch. FVC provides written and video installation guides for most products, and a network of certified installers is available if you'd rather have someone else handle it.

Are Sprinter van accessories compatible with 2024-2026 models? Yes. Our products are designed for the current-generation VS30 Sprinter platform (2019 and newer), with fitment confirmed through 2026. The NCV3 platform (2007-2018) is also supported for select products. Check individual product pages for specific year and configuration compatibility.

What should I prioritize if I'm on a budget? Start with the roof rack, ladder, hood strut kit, and bed system. These four essentials give you the most functional return for the investment and set you up to add everything else in the right order over time. The hood strut kit in particular is an easy first win at $125 that you'll appreciate every time you pop the hood.

Does FVC offer professional installation? We have a network of van builders and upfitters across the country with experience installing our FVC products. If you'd rather have your accessories installed by someone with experience, you can find an installer near you.

Start With What Matters Most

A great Sprinter setup doesn't happen all at once. It evolves. Start with the accessories that make the biggest difference to how you use your van right now, and build from there. Every upgrade on this list was chosen because it earns its place every day, whether that's the $125 hood strut kit or a full bed and galley setup.
