13 Must-Have Interior Accessories for Your Sprinter Van

“What are some must-have interior accessories for my Mercedes Benz Sprinter van?” We get this question a lot, and it makes sense. After all, when you’re out on your road trip, you’ll be spending most of your time inside the van. The equipment you carry along can make the difference between having the adventure of a lifetime and a trip that just didn’t go as planned. There are so many options that narrowing your wish list to a few essentials can be challenging. So, we’ve drawn on our own van life experience to help you skip the research and get straight to packing.

Without further ado, here’s our list of the 13 best Sprinter interior accessories.

1. Sprinter Step Extension

The Sprinter Step Extension is a game-changer when it comes to customizing your Sprinter. We know you don’t have a whole lot of space to work with inside the van, so we designed this piece to increase your usable area by extending the floor space over part of the step. The step extension is made of powder-coated aluminum and stainless steel. It can also accommodate any flooring material of your choice. A handy storage cavity also makes it the perfect place to keep shoes and other small items out of sight and out of your way.

2. Coffee Maker

Coffee and camping go hand in hand. There’s nothing worse than waking up from a night of camping out in the middle of nowhere and realizing you don’t have any way to transform those little black nuggets of gold into something drinkable. Don’t let this ruin your trip – always make sure you keep a coffee maker in your van’s kitchen cabinet.

We’ve compiled a list of a few different coffee makers perfectly suited for van life.

Ratio 6 Coffee Maker

It’s a little bit pricey, but the coffee it makes is worth it. The Ratio 6’s streamlined design saves you counter space and brews world-class coffee at the touch of a single button.

Fellow Stag Pour Over Kit

Fans of pour-over coffee will appreciate this kit’s compact design. It fits into one hand and features double-walled insulated glass to serve you up a piping hot cup of joe every time.

Aeropress

No travel coffee list would be complete without the Aeropress. It’s durable, lightweight, very compact, and brews a smooth cup of coffee. The original version is already perfect for taking camping, but you can also order a travel set that comes with even more accessories perfect for your road trip.

3. 12V Fridge

This one goes without saying. If you want to enjoy your time adventuring, you need a way to keep food and drinks cold. Sure, you can lug around bulky coolers, but constantly being on the hunt for ice can end up being more trouble than it’s worth. Adding a fridge is one of the best things you can do to make your Sprinter Van feel more like a home on wheels. We highly recommend going with a 12V Fridge over some of the other options on the market - find out why here. The Engel SR70 and Isotherm Drawer 65 also fit right into our 24” Galley and 41” Galley, so you can show off a professional-looking kitchen without doing a lot of work.

Trust us when we say that a nice fridge and galley will completely change the usability and functionality of your adventure van.

4. Window Covers

Window covers serve two purposes: they keep the inside of your van insulated and protect your privacy. If you’ve ever been out on the road for a long journey, you know that it can be challenging to maintain cool indoor temperatures during the summer and keep the heat inside during the winter. While you can make window covers yourself from old curtains, consider investing in a high-quality set with built-in insulation and window magnet attachments. Don’t forget to cover up the windshield as well – even a cheap reflective windshield cover does wonders for keeping the heat outside. As for privacy, you’ve invested too much time and effort into fitting out your van to risk a break-in. Instead, keep your belongings out of view by putting up some window covers, and you’ll sleep much more soundly.

5. VSSL First Aid Kit

Safety always comes first. When you’re out rock climbing or trekking, miles from the nearest town, make sure you prepare for the unexpected by bringing along a high-quality first aid kit. The VSSL First Aid Kit is one of the best around. This award-winning kit comes pre-packed with 46 first-aid essentials, from butterfly bandages to burn cream. It even has a built-in 200-lumen flood beam light for an SOS situation. Even better, it’s fully waterproof and made from military-grade aluminum. You don’t want to leave home without it. Oh, and it’s compact and lightweight, so you don’t have to sacrifice safety for storage space. *Note, as of 2024 it looks like this is no longer available.

6. Lagun Table System

If saving space is your goal, you need a table that can be conveniently stowed away when you want extra room to move around. But you also shouldn’t sacrifice portability for stability. After all, no one wants to eat on a wobbly table. The Lagun table system offers a rock-solid surface no matter which position it’s in, and it swings out of the way in seconds. Simple to install and adjust, this table can be easily adapted to any van setup.

7. Bed System

When you’re not driving, cooking, or relaxing, you’ll probably spend most of the time in your van sleeping. That’s why it’s critical to invest in a high-quality bed system that will give you a good night’s rest every single time. Sure, you can build your own bed with plywood and 2x4’s, but it’s not the most durable (or good looking) option. Plywood beds eventually sag, and a poor sleeping experience can kill your desire to take your van out on the road next vacation.

Our Sprinter bed system offers four different setup options to fit just about any space, and it’s built out of laser-cut aluminum to provide a light, super-strong sleeping surface. We can’t stress this enough; a good bed system is one interior feature you should prioritize.

8. Rumpl Blankets

Rumpl Blankets are soft, warm, and fold up into almost nothing. These blankets were practically made for van life, with a durable, water-resistant exterior and stuffed with the same insulating fibers in premium sleeping bags. A handy clasp allows you to wear the blanket like a cape while you’re sitting around the campfire having hot chocolate. Not only that, but they’re also great for the environment. Rumpl is a carbon-neutral company and builds all their blankets with recycled plastic bottles. What’s not to love? That’s why we always have a couple stowed away in our Sprinter Headliner shelf or in the bedside storage.

9. Diesel Heater

If you take your adventure van on cold-weather expeditions, you’ll need a reliable heater to keep you warm. Key features to look for are cost-effective operation, heating power, and easy maintenance. The Espar D2 Diesel Heater is one of the most powerful, reliable van heaters on the market. It features four different heating levels and uses an internal sensor to maintain the right temperature. A heater is one of our favorite accessories because it keeps the van interior cozy and saves time you would have spent scraping ice off the windshield in the morning.

10. Hest Pillow

Hest packs a whole lot of technical features and clever details into their portable pillow package. The pillow flips inside out and zips up to form a washable, dirt and water-resistant cover so that you don’t have to worry about getting it dirty during travel. Most importantly, it’s really comfortable. The pillow’s curved shape and blended memory foam and polyester filling give you all the support you need, even when using it in an upright position. You’ll definitely want to throw a couple of these into the back of your van.

11. Dyson V7 Trigger Vacuum

With all the adventures you’re going on, your van can get pretty dirty. So a powerful handheld vacuum is a must for keeping your van’s interior nice and clean. The Dyson V7 Trigger is designed to suck out all the dirt and dust from any crack or crevice. Featuring thirty minutes of continuous operation on a single charge, the vacuum comes with three different tool heads to clean any surface. Deep cleaning your van has never been this easy or this fun.

12. Sprinter Headliner Shelf

Extra headroom is great, but it often means a lot of wasted space, particularly above the driver and passenger seating area. We designed the Sprinter Headliner Shelf to recapture that underutilized space and give you an abundance of storage area at the front of the van. Installation is quick and easy, and we’ve included strategically placed L-track compatible mounting points so you can strap your things down when the road gets rough. In addition, the Headliner Shelf is a great place to store blankets, maps, camping gear, or anything else you need for your next adventure.

13. Folding Step Stool

4x4 Sprinter Vans aren’t exactly low to the ground, so we always like to have a folding step stool with us in our vans. These hardly take up any room and they are great for making it easy for vertically challenged people to get in/out of the van if you don’t have nerf bars or automated steps.

 The Wrap Up

We hope that you’ve found this list of our favorite Sprinter interior accessories helpful. While it’s not exhaustive, a Sprinter van outfitted with these accessories will definitely serve as a road-worthy companion on your next adventure.
