Sprinter Van Safari Roof Rack

This rack has been awesome! Super bomber, no noise, very versatile.

One of my goals with my van build has been to keep the MPG as high as possible. I initially was leaning toward the standard rack because I thought it might be better due to being lower profile. Talking to some folks, it sounded like they may have actually been seeing less of a hit to MPG with the Safari rack (perhaps due to how smooth and uniform it is) so I went for the increased functionality of this rack.

I have a '24 AWD Sprinter 144 with the Safari Rack without the drop down front, and my best guess is that the Safari Rack probably cost me about 1.5 MPG. The functionality is worth it. There's a lot of storage space and mounting options, a great mounting option for an awning, and it holds it all well while also giving you a deck to walk around on and cable routing to keep it all looking professional.

Before mounting all of my accessories (solar, maxtrax, starlink etc.) I thought that the rack could have been slightly lower profile and mounted closer to the van roof, but after doing the install, I think FVC struck the perfect balance between being low profile and giving you enough space to work and access mounts from below.

Overall, I'm glad I got this rack and I would buy it again. l'll add pictures sometime soon.

I purchased a Flatline van Safari roof rack for my 170 sprinter build. I liked the fact that it was something I could install and modify to my situation. I assembled and installed it by my self and it took about 8 hours due to a couple of modifications I made to accommodate my roof layout. I am extremely happy with the quality of the rack and the customer service I received from the Flatline Van staff. My rack was shipped missing two parts. They shipped them out immediately and I have them in a couple day. I had another brand aluminum rack on another van. This rack is better!

Well packaged, great fit and very flexible. The rack and the panels are designed very well. I had to cut the large decking panel that came with the kit to fit on either sides of the Nomadic X3 AC.

I need to add some vertical support to the two cut up panel pieces next to the AC to stiffen them up so I can walk on them. All of the other panels are sturdy.

My first mod besides phone holders. I used both the PDF and the video for installation. If you've ever assembled Ikea furniture you can do this job. I spent a lazy part of a day in late December and was surprised to get it all done before it got dark (I'll post pictures later).
The rack is solid and went together with no issues. It was important to me that my rack be aluminum (weight up high is not good). I'm not about lights and bling but I do want to be able to walk around on top of my van. The FVC Safari includes the decking, which is an add-on with all the others I looked at.
Super happy with FVC on this! Very likely to select their front bumper too.

My July and August so far have been spent building out our new sprinter van. Couldn’t be happier with the products I’ve purchased from FVC thus far. The Safari Rack has been an awesome addition. Completely changes the look and extra functionality space of the van. The decking panels are brilliantly thought out for additions or changes. There will definitely be a lot of sunsets viewed from there. Cheers!

The installation is pretty smooth but definitely requires planing, accuracy and a second hand. The roof rack is top notch and is built to last. Flatline Van Co. took this product to the next level and really put a lot of thought into providing the best roof rack in the market.
