DIY-FRIENDLY INSTALL
The Transit platform works with the rear door hinges and requires just a single hole for installation. Most installations should take less than 90 minutes and are designed to be DIY-friendly.

I did a lot of comparison shopping for a rear door storage solution for skis and bikes and this product was the clear winner. Most competitors sell the panel portion separately (sometimes in pieces) and none seemed to offer as much actual mounting area, let alone as many mounting holes. The upgrades to the way the FVCO panel is mounted to the door are great - much more robust, including two rubber plates to help distribute the forces when the door is opened and closed (very important given how thin Ford's sheet metal is).
I paired the panel with Thule SnowPack racks. These racks come with extension feet that allow the rack to mounted further away from a roof rack (or the door panel, in this case). All I had to do was drill one extra hole in each crossbar (aluminum, so no rust concerns) and I was able to mount these racks directly to the FLVC panel. The last piece of the puzzle was a powder coated aluminum shelf I found on Amazon to support the skis/boards while putting them on/taking them off. When the seasons change, I will swap the ski racks for 1up bike trays. I couldn't be happier with how this has all worked out.
Our first step in building our Transit campervan was installing the Flatline rear door platform. The instructions were clear and we supplemented them with FaroutRide pictures. The templates made it clear where to drill and everything went smoothly.
