The tire carrier was very light (20 lbs) and easy to install. I installed it solo, using a prop to hold it up to level it. You do need a 19mm(3/4 inch) rubber grommet for the inside hole if you use the supplied step bit. It doesn't go large enough for the supplied plug. I did use silicone between the rubber washer and the van and around the screw that went through the body, just in case.

There many options out there, but I would recommend this company and their products to everyone. The spare tire carrier is easy for a DIYer to install. I like that I was able to add a trailer coupler latch lock for security. Highly recommend.
I was a little surprised that my new RV did not come with a spare tire. It’s difficult to cough up another 2k for a spare and a means to carry it after you’ve spent nearly as much on a van as you did for your first house. However, once I decided to get one I researched at least four or five different carriers. This one has a center hub that holds the tire. I liked that better than one that cradles the tire. It is gusseted for additional strength. You do have to drill one hole which makes you queasy but wasn’t bad. It comes with everything you need including a step bit. Total install could have been less than an hour if you were doing it for the second time and had an extra set of hands. I think I got mine done in about two hours. Packaging was amazing with a small forest worth of cardboard to keep everything safe. Other than a carrier that only attaches to the door (not the hinges) this was the most reasonably priced carrier I could find and definitely seemed to be the best value.
Wanted to get a rear mounted tire carrier so I could put a 37 gallon water tank in the empty space under the rear of the van. The template and instructions made it an easy install in one afternoon. Great product and attention to detail. Don’t know if my template got lost. But the quick response and attentiveness of the Flatline crew got me a replacement template sent out right away.
